Decorate a T-shirt:
Method 1: Give your children fabric paints or markers to decorate a T-shirt any way they want, or let them put their handprints on the shirt.
Method 2: Let your children create a design on the computer and print it out on special paper sold at craft stores. Print and iron onto shirt.
Method 3: Buy a picture transfer kit at a craft store, and transfer a photo to the T-shirt for Dad. Follow package instructions.
Method 4: Take a photo of the children and get it printed on a T-shirt professionally.
Make a key chain:
1. Buy a key chain that can hold a picture.
2. Get Mom to take a picture of you, and develop the photo
3. Cut the photo to fit, write a love note on the back, and put it in the key holder.
Alternative method:
1.Cut out your face from a snapshot to get a small picture of yourself. (Take purikura picture in a booth at 100 yen store)
2. Buy “Shrink-it” plastic at a hundred yen store
3. Draw a picture with a love note, and cut out the shape with scissors
4. Punch a hole with a hole punch--DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!
5. Bake the plastic to shrink it in the oven (ask for help from an adult.) Don’t forget to press it flat with a book while it is still warm. Be sure to follow all the instructions that are written on the Shrink-it package.
6. Glue the small photo onto the back of the shrunken cooled plastic
7. Fasten a key ring that came with the “Shrink-it” in the hole.
Make a shoe shine kit
1.Buy a small zippered case and fill with brushes, soft cloths , and shoe polish purchased at a 100 yen store, or a discount store
2. Let the children decorate it with acrylic paints or stickers
3. Include a coupon for shining dad’s shoes
Make a clock
1. Buy clock works and hands at a craft store (hundred yen store)
2.Decorate any object as a clock face, such as a photo glued to piece of cardboard or wood. Drill a hole for the clock works to fit through to the front.
3.If you prefer, you can buy a clock face and decorate it, or buy a pre-made hundred yen clock and decorate it (this is the cheapest option.)
Decorate a necktie
1. Buy a plain tie at a hundred yen store
2. Paint a design with acrylic paints
Decorate a mug
1. Buy a plain mug at a hundred yen store
2. Buy special paint at a craft store for painting on ceramics. Let your children paint a design onto the mug, but be careful not to paint on the inside, or on the outside where the lip touches. Bake the mug in the oven according to instructions. If you use regular acrylic paints for this, it will peal off when you wash it.
Make a car wash kit
1. Buy a bucket, sponges, and cloths at a hundred yen store
2. Paint a design on the bucket with acrylic paints
3. Include a coupon to wash Dad’s car
Make a car visor photo holder
1. Buy a piece of clear plastic, or a plastic file file folder and velcro at a craft store (hundred yen store)
2. Cut the plastic to fit the visor
3. Glue velcro strips to edges of plastic and slide onto visor.
4. Slide photos under plastic sheet with a father’s day message
Make a book about Dad
Method 1: Buy a plain book at a hundred yen store and use photos or draw pictures to tell what is special about Dad
Method 2: Design a book on the computer and print out pages. Use heavy paper or thin cardboard for the cover. Punch holes with a hole punch and tie with ribbon or string.
Make a sheet magnet photo frame
1.Buy a sheet magnet at a craft store (hundred yen store), and cut in half,
2.Cut a window slightly smaller than the photo in each rectangle
3. Paint a design with acrylic paints, permanent markers, or stickers.
4. Write a father’s Day message on the frame
5. Include a photo of yourself, or a photo of you with your Dad
6. Use the smaller rectangles (window cut for the photos) for a smaller picture, or use to write a message
Decorate a wooden or plastic photo frame
1. Buy a plain frame at a Dollar store (hundred yen store)
2. Paint a design with acrylic paints, or cut shapes out of felt or EVA foam to form decorations for the frame
3. include a photo of yourself, or a photo of you with your Dad
Make a photo puzzle, as seen on Family Fun site
1. Buy plain wooden blocks at a hundred yen store
2. Glue photos to front and back of blocks.
3. Cut blocks apart.
4. Give as is, or make it more difficult by turning blocks and gluing 2 more photos, then cut blocks apart.

2. Paint a design with acrylic paints, markers, or cut shapes out of felt or EVA foam to form decorations for the hat
Decorate an emergency umbrella
1. Buy a plain umbrella at a Dollar store (hundred yen store)
2. Paint a design with acrylic paints, or permanent markers, or use stamps.
3.Dad can keep the umbrella at work for days it begins raining while he is at work
(alright, so this is a mother’s Day umbrella, but at least it gives you an idea of what it might look like if you just imagine the umbrella black, and the decorations to be footballs or soccer balls instead of flowers!)
Make a canned drink insulator
1. Buy thick EVA foam at a hundred yen store
2. Wrap around canned drink to check for size, and cut to fit. Glue edges ( a glue gun works best for this, but get an adult’s help.)
3.Paint a design with acrylic paints, or cut shapes out of more EVA foam and glue on decorations to the can insulator
4.Alternative method: buy a dollar store drink insulator and decorate on top of it. (the one pictured above was a dollar store items.)
Make a chopstick holder for Dad’s lunch box
1. Cut fabric into a triangle
2. Sew corner
3. Wrap points of chopsticks with paper towel or plastic wrap
4. Fold fabric around chopsticks

Make a car organizer or trash can
1.Buy hooks or bags that hang over the back of a car seat.
2.Let kids decorate it with acrylic paints.
3. Collect items from the car and stash in the pockets, or use it as a trash receptacle.
Make a “Best Dad in the World” pin
1.Buy a pin and let the kids draw a message or design (these were ordered from Oriental Trading Company)
2.Alternative method: Cut a shape out of wood, cardboard or a foam sheet and decorate. Glue a pin back on the back (can be purchased at a craft store, or pulled of old jewelry.)
Make a “Best Dad in the World” puzzle
1.Buy a blank puzzle at a hundred yen store or craft store and let the kids write a message or draw a picture.
2.Alternative method: Some companies will make a photo into puzzles if you send a photo.
3.Alternative method: Glue a photo or child’t artwork on a piece of thin cardboard and cut out puzzle pieces with an exacto knife (sharp, narrow bladed craft knife sold in craft stores.)
