Seasons > Valentine’s Day > Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day With Kids > Valentine Love Box, Kiss Box, Can of Worms
A simple box or jar has so many possibilities! Your family can probably come up with even more ideas!
Fill a box, jar, or bowl with chocolate kisses, conversation hearts, or Jelly bean hearts, then make it a game:
1. Get one chocolate kiss for being “caught” doing a kind deed
2.Get one kiss when caught saying predetermined word (such as red or valentine or love)
3.Get one kiss for winning a challenge (see ideas below)
4.Use a spinner to win a prize
Fill a box with love... choose one option:
1.Fill the box with blank sheets of pink or red paper (white is boring, but it works, too) Leave it in a central place to encourage everyone in the family to write each other messages of love. Fun pens help, too.
2.Fill the box with sheets of paper with words of affirmation written on them for anyone who needs a kind word
3.Fill the box with sheets of paper with challenges for whoever wants to stage a duel to win a chocolate kiss/ conversation heart/ Jellybean heart (see ideas below)
4.Fill the box with riddles to be solved for a chocolate kiss, etc. (see riddle ideas below)
5.Fill the box with sheets of paper describing favors the receiver will get from designated giver (most likely mom!)
6.Fill the box with a mix of silly antics, riddles, and favors--the chance to win a prize will keep them trying. But turn the cards face down so they don’t see what they are getting. You can either limit how many cards they do in a day, or only have prize cards show up occasionally.
Can of worms:
This idea is for boys who think they don’t want to have anything to do with girly stuff like a box full of pink hearts. Fill a can, or clear plastic jar with gummy worms, or slips of paper and adapt one the ideas in the left two columns.
Challenges or duels
(Be sure to have the materials on hand for each challenge card you make...you can’t play “War” without a deck of cards! Also, plan on losing most of the time--it’s supposed to be a fun thing for the kids, but it won’t be fun if they always lose!)
