This purse looks complicated, but it is actually quite simple. Cut a sheet of colored paper in half the long way. Each half becomes a purse. Cut one end rounded for the handle. Use a craft knife to cut out the inside of the handle that also forms the flap that folds over the top of the purse. See folding instructions below.
Write a message on the inside of the purse. Then fold it and stand the purse up for a Mother’s Day decoration.
Fold the flap down.
At this point, you may want to fold the other end up under the flap, but resist the urge because the fold would be going in the wrong direction. So instead, fold the other end to the back side of the purse, and make sure it is even with the top of the flap. Firmly press the folded end.
Press the folded end in one half inch, then fold both sides flat. The purse should now be able to stand up.
NOW bring the plain end back to the front under the flap.
Write a message on the inside of the purse. If you want to decorate the inside of the purse, cut out pictures of lipstick and other make-up from advertisement fliers. Glue them around the edge of the message, so it looks like the purse is full of “important lady things.”
Decorate with stickers, buttons, foam cutouts or sequins. To make the purse fasten shut, but also open again without tearing, put a small strip of tape on the inside of the flap and on the purse, then use double stick tape to fasten the flap shut.--just make sure they all line up in the same place.
