This cross that is decorated with curls, is perhaps the most difficult design, of the three crosses. But it is also the most fun, because there are so many ways to arrange the curls--you could probably make a dozen without repeating a design! You will first need to make the base cross out of a sheet of paper. Then read below how to make the decorations which are sort of like giant quilling. Once you get the hang of curling, it may be the easiest design!
Cut 4 strips of copier paper that are 5/8 inch wide (1 cm), and the length of the sheet of the paper (11 inches for U.S. letter paper, or 11 5/8 inches for A4 paper.)
Also cut 6 strips that are 5/8 inch wide (1 cm), and the length that is the width of a sheet of paper (8 1/2 inches for U.S. letter paper, and 8 1/4 inches for A4 paper.)
NOTE: It is BEST to cut these strips with a paper cutter.
Curl both ends of each strip around a toothpick or bamboo skewer, or match.
The curls will be quite tights.
Loosen all the curls by pulling the strips, as if you are trying to straighten each curl out again. If you straighten them too much, just curl them again.
The 4 longer strips go in the middle of the cross. Start with the two bottom curls--glue them to the two arms and the walls of the bottom section of the cross. Next glue the other two long curls above the first two, to form a diamond in the middle of the cross. Glue these two curls to the first two curls, and to the side walls of the top section of the cross.
