Holidays > Easter > Decorations for the home > How to Make Stems for Paper Flowers
Make sepals out of green paper to attach a paper flower to a stem. Use a glue stick lid or other round object to cut a circle slightly smaller than the flower. Draw a fat stem that is slightly narrower than the circle.
Cut slits all the way around the circle about one fourth inch (.5 cm.) long. Because the whole sepal hangs on the narrow bit of paper between the slits, you may want to reenforce this area with a strip of tape or by gluing an extra strip of paper over this area. The stem can be coated wire or bamboo skewers.
Fold the stem away from the circle.
Glue the two sections on either side of the stem together so the whole circle pulls into a cone shape.
Glue the flaps on the cone and stick the cone to the back side of the paper flower.
Put glue on the paper stem. Poke the skewer or wire into the hole of the cone, then lay the skewer onto the paper stem. Roll the paper around the skewer or wire.

Brace the back of the flower with one hand, and use the other hand to separate the layers of petals.
