For a hanging wreath, use a bowl, plate, or lid to draw a circle on a piece of cardboard such as an empty cereal box.

If you want it to be a centerpiece, use a round object to draw a circle, but also use a ruler to draw the base for the wreath to to sit on. Be sure to make enough overlap that the round part won’t fop over from too narrow a base (see photo on left.)

Make an Easter wreath to hang on a door, or as a centerpiece.

If you are going to make one wreath, you my want to cut a hole in the middle. If you are going to make lots of wreaths, such as lots of tables in a church hall, you may want to glue on white paper circles for the middle hole to save time.

If you are making one wreath, you may want to cover it in leaves before adding flowers. Start by gluing on a row of 3 leaves.

Glue green paper to the cardboard. If it is  a hanging wreath, only one side needs to be green, but if it is going to be a centerpiece, both sides will need to be decorated. To keep it from warping, put a book on it while the glue dries.

Glue on paper flowers.

If you are in a hurry, download the finished wreath, and glue to cardboard.

Keep layering leaves on top of the ends of the previous row until the whole wreath is covered. If you are making many wreaths, skip this step.

How to Make a Paper Bow

How to Make a Standing  Base

2. Form 2 strips into loops, and staple or glue them together at the ends.

3. Trim off any areas that stick out past the edge.

1. Cut 7 strips from colored paper about 1 1/2 inches wide (3.5 cm.) and the length should be the full length of the paper.

Staple or glue one strip into a loop.

5. Repeat steps 2-4 to make loops on the other side (right side in the photo.)

6. Cut a strip short to make a small loop and staple it in the middle of the bow.

4. Staple these two loops to the back of the first loop. They should stick out about half an inch (1.5 cm.) beyond the top loop.

8. Cut the other strip the same way and staple onto the bow in the back.

9. If there is anything that didn’t get stapled right, staple it now to make it is secure. Staple or glue the bow to the wreath. If it is a wreath for a centerpiece, make a bow for both sides. If these will be stored for use at a later date, fasten the bows on with mounting putty so you can take them off for storage.

7. Hold the bow up to the wreath to see how long to make the parts of the bow that hang down should be. Cut off the end at an angle and staple to a back loop on the bow.

Cut a narrow slit in the middle of the base that is as tall as the accordion folds. Squeeze the accordion folded paper in the middle and push into the slit in the base of the wreath.

Glue 2 pieces of paper together then fold them in accordion folds.

Fasten both sides of the accordion fold base with paper clips so that it makes a complete circle. This way the base can be removed for storage. If you glue the base on, storage gets complicated. The wreaths look pretty without the bows, too, so if storage is an issue, make them without bows.
