Rice Crispie cookie (Link to Rice Krispie site)

The usual way to make this recipe is with Rice Crispie cereal, but it is hard to find in Japan. So just substitute any unsweetened cereal such as cornflakes or riceflakes, or a mix of several unsweetened cereals.

Melt 2 Tablespoons butter or margarine in a saucepan
Add 40 large marshmallows and mix constantly over low heat until no lumps remain
turn off heat and mix in 6 cups cereal
Press into greased pan with greased hands
Let cool and cut into squares, or other shapes, such as stars

Alternative--add 2 Tablespoons cocoa or 1 teaspoon cinnamon  to melted butter for different flavors

This is a very versatile recipe that can be adapted for almost any holiday.

Christmas Tree
Press into 3 cones. Press on candy balls while still warm. Once it has cooled and hardened, stack the 3 cones. Top with cookie star or wreath.
Easter eggs
Form into egghapes with buttered hands while still warm. Once cooled, drizzle with melted chocolate and sprinkle with jimmies (sprinkles, hundreds and thousands)
Resurrection cake
Press warm cereal mix into buttered pan. Lay mug on it’s side (Do NOT grease mug) and press cereal mix onto top of mug. Press a handful of the mix into a disc to form the stone, or use a cookie such as a  moonpie.
