Amy’s Free Ideas

I am a mother of 3, the wife of a church planter, and although I am American, I have lived in Japan for most of my life. I homeschooled all three of our children for 8 years. For the last 20 years, I have taught craft classes, cooking classes, parenting classes, and Sunday School for children, as well as teacher training for Sunday School teachers.

I am convinced that there is nothing more important, as a mother, than to equip our children to become thriving adults. Of the many things we need to teach them, there is nothing more important than teaching them about God. But if we want them to hear what we are saying, we need to fit the message to the listeners--their ages, their personalities, and their learning styles, to name a few. But one technique that is universal is to make it fun--what ever you want to teach, if you make it fun, the chances that they will pay attention greatly increase.

All that fun takes a lot of extra work, but the dividends are so amazing, that I think that all the effort is totally worth it. So in preparation for the many classes I have taught over the past 20+ years, I have collected ideas from many sources, as well as coming up with some of my own. When ever I find a good idea, I like to pass it on, so that as many people as possible can benefit from it. So this web site is my gift to you--many people charge money for their ideas, but I have chosen to keep this web site free. I hope you can find lots of ideas that you can use, and if you do, I hope you pass them on to other women, so they can be helped by them as well. If you have questions or suggestions, or ways you changed the ideas to fit your situation, be sure to post them on one of the forums. I am always amazed what people can do, particularly women, when they band together to accomplish a common goal. Women helping women--it’s amazing what we can do when we work together.

is my daughter. She has been student teaching in preparation for becoming an elementary school teacher. When she told me about the classes that she taught, she had such great ideas that I asked her to send me her lesson plans so that I could include them on this website so that other people could get ideas from them. Be sure to check them out

is the mother of 2. She has been teaching Sunday School for many years and always has lots of creative ideas. Her ideas are all in Japanese, so unless you can read Kanji, you won’t be able to benefit from her ideas.

is the mother of 3, and a pastor’s wife. She is creative, too, though she would never admit it--her quilts are beautiful. But her gift to us is that she is translating my many, many words into Japanese. We both desire to help Japanese Christian families and churches with this website, and hope that our combined gifts of love will benefit many.
