These peach colored country-style decorations are relatively inexpensive to make. The heart shaped vine wreath, purchased at a hundred yen store, has been embellished with hundred yen store flowers, fastened on in two places with florist’s wire, also available at many hundred yen stores. The valance over the small window is easy to change out for each season since it is held up with a tension rod. This one is actually a table runner that  is being used it as a curtain. The embroidery would be relatively quick to imitate, since the flowers and leaves are ribbons that have been sewn in place rather than the traditional crewel work.

The fabric heart is a relatively quick project as well. After the wire frame has been formed into a heart, rectangles of fabric have been tied onto it--simple enough for even a child to make.

A fun way to decorate the wall is to buy a nick-nack shelf and add heart shaped decorations. Nitori is one store that sells nick-nack shelves and shadow boxes. Hundred yen stores often sell heart shaped items such as candles and boxes, but they are usually sold all year round rather than during the valentine season. For example, the hart garland behind the hear was in the gift wrap section.

Here are red decorations in the same half bath. The red valance is also a table runner that has been draped over a tension rod. This time the hearts in the window are 2 felt garlands hung from hooks on the window frame (sold at hundred yen stores, usually at Christmas time.)

If you can find a decorative key holder, it makes a quick wall decoration when you embellish it with a variety of hearts, either bought or hand made. The key and lock set hung from velvet ribbons symbolize the exclusive love promised in marriage and expressed in the phrase, “You have the key to my heart.”

Here is an alternative for a wreath--make or buy a twig frame and add a big red bow and a heart (this one is made from a light weight modeling compound such as Hearty (Karui Kaminendo.)

A bathroom with lots of little shelves provides a good place to decorate with seasonal items from hundred yen stores or dollar stores. Candles, figurines, flowers, and heart shaped objects are all pretty easy to find if you keep your eyes open.

The felt hearts forming a wreath and hanging in front of the cafe curtain are Christmas tree ornaments that were sold at 100 yen stores during the Christmas season.

The toiletries in this bathroom are all kept organized in flowerpots that were purchased at a hundred yen store. The design is similar to the leaf pattern on the wallpaper boarder print. The kleenex box cover was also purchased at a hundred yen store, and was painted to match the boarder print.

If you have trouble finding heart shaped objects, or if you want more variety, many valentine decorations can be made with a light weight modeling compound such as Hearty (Karui Kaminendo.) On the far left, they are made into a heart bouquet, and on the right, they add interest to a pillar candle. They could even be glued into a circle to form a heart wreath.  Another idea for a hand made decoration is to  cross stitch hearts and put them in a frame from the hundred yen store,

Wooden blocks can be painted red, and  then letters painted on them to form words, such as “love” or “be mine.” Some hundred yen stores sell unpainted wooden blocks and some sell wooden puzzles that can be taken apart and used as cubes.

Little animal figurines are often sold at hundred yen stores and dollar stores. When grouped in pairs, they can make a good valentine decoration.

These glass hearts were purchased at a hundred yen store, as well as the heart shaped dish they are in.

Candles can add a romantic touch to the bath. The bottom third of these vases were filled with small white rocks, then water was added. One vase has more water added than the other so that the candles would float at different heights. Tiny heart shaped candles are sprinkled around the bottom of the vases for added detail.

All items were purchased at hundred yen stores.

Some hundred yen stores sell cling stickers that can be used over and over again on windows, mirrors, and tile walls. Some designs are sold year round and others are sold only during the Christmas season.

Blue and lavender are not the traditional colors for Valentine’s day, but hearts can be purchased in just about any color to match the the decor of any room.

The same materials used in decorations above, look entirely different from the previous projects, and hopefully will inspire you to see the possibilities of how versatile these materials are. The hearts on the left were made from a light weight modeling compound such as Hearty (Karui Kaminendo.) The cross stitched heart on the right has been put in a hundred yen frame, and trimmed with a ribbon from a hundred yen store.
