Start the wreath with a wire ring to keep the wreath from sagging into an oval. You can use a wire clothes hanger or wire from a dollar store or hardware store.

Glue 2 strips of green paper with the wire sandwiched between the two layers of paper. These are about 3/4 of an inch wide.

Keep gluing strips of green paper until the wire is covered.

Cut more strips of green paper and glue them into rings. A paper cutter can speed up this step, if you have access to one. Fold each ring flat and glue it to the paper ring with a glue gun.

Make berries by cutting strips of red paper and roll them into spirals. Glue them to the paper ring with a glue gun. If the spiral is hard to get started, tape two needles together and put the end of the strip of paper between the two needles and roll the strip into a tight roll. Slide the needles out of the spiral. Two toothpicks or matchsticks could be used instead of needles--the spiral won’t be quite as tight.

Keep making leaves and gluing them on until the ring is covered with leaves and berries. Tie a loop of thread through the ring to hang the wreath--just be careful not to smash any of the leaves or berries.

Store the paper wreath in a box by itself because other items in the box might wrinkle the leaves or bend the wreath out of shape.

This paper wreath is simple enough for kids to make, so it’s a good family project. But don’t expect them to do it on their own because they will get bored of making leaves before the wreath is finished (the exception being older girls who like to make things.) It took me about an hour to make it by myself so, If there are 2 or 3 people working on it together, it will go much faster.
