No one wants to raise a selfish, lazy, incompetent, impatient adult. Yet little decisions we make every day can have a huge impact on what kind of person they will become. For example, if we do things for our children instead of teaching them, simply because we can do it faster and better than they can, we are teaching them to be lazy (I don’t have to do it because mom will do it for me) and incompetent (I don’t know how to do it because mom always did it.) It’s vital that we think through what to teach our children and how to teach our children and when to teach them if we want to prepare them to become confident, competent, kind, helpful adults.
