How to make a Mayflower ship

Cut a kleenex box down one corner, then cut the top and bottom free of the sides to about one third of the way along the long side of the box. Fold the bottom free end into a point and tape the edges to it. Put a block of oasis( green foam for flower arranging) in the box, and cut to fit (these are sold at craft stores and dollar stores.) For the easiest way to finish the ship, fold and tape the top layer in the same way.

For a little bit harder but more interesting version, make the front and back of the ship taller than in the middle. Do this by cutting the top of the kleenex box all the way to the back, then cut notches on the  front and back sides, and fold the middle of the side pieces in to form a narrow platform to glue the top of the box back onto. Cover the ship with brown paper bags, or paper packing tape (if you can find it anywhere.)

Poke 3 masts through the oval hole in the kleenex box and into the foam, which should keep them standing straight. Glue pieces of white paper to the masts. If you want to, you can draw details onto the ship.

You will need

empty Kleenex box

flower oasis (green foam)

3 dowels

glue gun and glue sticks

brown paper bag

craft knife or box cutter

3 sheets white paper
